Coffin Fun

So....I try to participate in recipe swaps, and this is one that I changed the "card" by adding it onto a 6x6 background and making it into a recipe page for an exchange!

I cut the coffin, letters, and pop out bat on my cutting machine.

The background paper of the 6x6, I used that webbing paint spray, that comes of of the can in a web of paint.  I used a gold web spray, and sprayed it on black.

Then, I used a paper with the words "boo" printed all over it.

On top, I attached the coffin card. For the Base of the card, I stamped a spider stamp with versamark ink, then used the powdered pearls over the top, to make it glimmer.

I outlined the letter cutouts with a glitter pen, to add a little dimension.

Instead of a greeting inside, I have a recipe printed...but you could just have your spooky greeting there instead!

Hope you enjoyed, you can visit my blog for other ideas, though I haven't been able to post much lately!

A pirate's Birthday for Me

Hello, Patricia here, and today I made for you a Pirate card for your little guy (or girl) who is into pirates.   I feel we do not give pirates much credit sometime.  After all, they do provide our children with a sense of adventure and wonder about new places to explore.  I especially love this card, because I got to use my favorite tool, my cricut machine, but if you do not have one, do not worry.  There are plenty of die cut machines to use, and if you do not have one at home, there are plenty of embellishments for you to use by the major brands out there.  There are plenty of pirates to go around.  This would also make a great Halloween card for a child who is not into the scary monsters.  The figure reminds me of Captain Hook from the Peter Pan storybook by Disney, and the story never gets old, just plotted on You tube.
Anyway, to see how to make this card, and how to change it up to fit a little girl (unless your little sweetheart is into pirates), come on over to MDN Creates.  I will promise that you will not walk the plank on this card, and you will receive lots of crocodile smiles (and a couple of "You Go Mom") when you little one receives this card, made with love by you.
Come back tomorrow to see Jill has for you with a new theme, Halloween.   I will see you later.

Hugs!

When thinking of kid friendly cards, I typically seem to make more for my nieces and little girls and not so much for boys!  I really need to change that thought process!!

Here's one that was a just because, this I sent off to my niece:

I used coordinations card stock and an embossing folder for the green paper, then lightly sanded it down.  I used nesties for the stamped image and oval scallop.  For the stamped image, I used my nestie and the out of bound technique, which is one of my favorite techniques to use, and I did a you tube video showing how it was done, if you check my channel out at you tube, my user id is Paperthreads.

Enjoy!!

Dive Right In ...

It's my day and I had a card ready to post that was cute and kiddy, but I saw this one in the VDBC gallery and it just needed a nod toward its awesomeness. Created by SongbirdVB with one of my files. I love the angles of this card and the way it opens. Every kid loves textures and new shapes and different. This card has it all down to the way it opens! Thank you SongbirdVB. Love it! Hope you like it to and it inspires you for an angled card! This card just made me happy!

More about this card on my blog. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday on Halloween

Hello Card Makers! I'm so glad you stopped by today to check out this Kids  Birthday..... on Halloween card.
I got this idea when I saw a T-shirt at Walmart that had a ghost on the front with the words Boo-Ya. I thought it was so cute. I just knew it would be a great card front. So I set out to make a card for a kid, who's birthday was on Halloween. I used a banner, some bats and a few ghost. I liked the black and white color scheme but lots of colors would work.

I will have all the directions on how I made this card over on my blog. Its pretty simple and a small list of instructions. I think this card would work for an adult too.

I hope you stop by my blog and get the direction. Make a card or two for someone you want to bring a smile to. The inside message doesn't have to say HB. Missing you, love you, Thank you...all would be good for the sentiment too.

Be sure and stop by tomorrow and check out the fantastic card Chris has for you! We also have a challenge going on.. check it out!!!
Thanks for stopping by

Canadian Thanksgiving

Hello!  I just wanted to introduce myself as a new member of this wonderful crafty group of ladies.  My first project for this group is a card to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving.

Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday in October to give thanks to the close of the harvest season.  They have been celebrating this holiday since 1957, when the Canadian Parliament proclaimed:

"A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October."

If you would like to learn a little more about Canadian Thanksgiving, click on this link here.

My in-laws are actually from Canada so it was interesting to learn a little about this  holiday from their country.

Here are two cards I made in celebration of this holiday:

If you would like to learn more about how I made these cards, you can check out my post on my blog Love 2 Create.

I'm really looking forward to being a part of this crafty team of ladies.

Have a wonderfully crafty day!

Remembrance

Just interrupting the regular schedule of postings to give a little remembrance to the families of 9/11, and all those that have been profoundly affected by the events of that day.

I'm sure we can all remember what we were doing when the news came through, it was a day that had a large impact on my life, as I knew people the worked in the towers, as well as several people that worked in the Pentagon, as we had just moved from Washington DC, where my daughter attended the Pentagon daycare and preschool center and my husband worked.

Since then, being a military family, we have continued to experience events that all came from that one day....even now, all these years later.

Prayers to all....

ATC card below cut with my electronic die cutting machine.....picture shows front and back.

Happy Autumn

Patricia here, and I am thinking of Autumn.  As summer comes to a close in less than a couple of weeks, I cannot help but to think of fallen leaves, and the thoughts of me and my siblings running and jumping into the leaves (hey, you would surprised of the tom boyish things I can do in a dress, LOL.)  With that in mind, let me point your attention to the card.  As you have read for some time now, I like to keep things simple and light, even when the card looks complicated. It takes just three items to make this card.  I had in mind of kids and leaves when I made this card.   If you want to learn how I made this card, come on over to my blog, MDN Creates, and I promise not to throw leaves. What I am going to throw to you some instructions on how to make this card
Well this is the last day for the Autumn theme.  Tomorrow starts a new theme: Canadian Thanksgiving, which is celebrated at a different time of year than the United States.  So come back tomorrow to see what the card looks like.  Until then, have a great day.

Pumpkin Seeds

Hello all!
Vicki from Paper Squirrel here, continuing this week's "Autumn" theme.  I love fall and there were just so many possibilities when I sat down to create today's card.  While keeping to the fall theme, I wanted to keep this card generic enough that it can work for many different occasions...fall birthday, thinking of you, thank you, etc.  Visit PAPER SQUIRREL for details and links to the vintage images I used.

Hope you enjoyed today's card...be sure to stop back tomorrow for more Autumn inspiration from designer, Jill Figley.
