The Beauty of Christmas Snow

I hate driving in the snow.  snow is meant for horse-drawn carriages on the way to a relative's or friend's house.  When you get there, the fireplace is lit with the fresh smell of snow, hickory, pine, and sugar cookies.  OK, enough Norman Rockwell, but that was how Christmas was celebrated in the 1800's.  I am much, much , much too young to know about that scene.  I grew up in the 1970's and well my favorite doll was one who walk and danced, and her name was Swingy, but I renamed her Carol.

"Joy to the world" Thank You card

Hello, Patricia here to bring you the card of the day.  Today continues the theme of holiday thank you cards.  I find it wonderful to give cards to everyone who has come into my life, including any person who has waited on me throughout the year.  This includes the postal staff, wait staff at your favorite eating place, beautician, or barber.   A simple card will cheer them up and brighten their day.  This card is simple and cute.  Have a few on hand to give to them when you are out.  Come to my blog, MDN Creates to see how to make this card, then come tomorrow to see Christine's Thank you card.  Until then, have a great day.

Happy Hanukkah Too

Happy Thanksgiving.  Patricia here to bring you the card of the day.  This is a Happy Hanukkah card.  Simple and cute.  It is really simple to make.  The image I used is from the Microsoft image library online, and downloaded to Ms Publisher to print it out.  I used an unlikely source to print the image on, folder paper.  Since I am not using a photo, it is does not matter if it is photo-safe or not.  I colored it with copic markers.  The rest is just matting the image, popping them up and writing Happy Hanukkah on the bottom of the card.

Gingerbread Gift card

Hello Patricia here, and I am bringing you the card of the day card.  We are continuing the theme of gift cards, and this card is simple in some ways, depending on your level of crafting.  I drew my inspiration on a the lone  gingerbread man.  The flavor is one of my favorites, and I remember making my first gingerbread sled in Home Economics.  The outside of the card is simple with a gingerbread man on the front, while the inside is made with pockets and I can show you how to make them over on my site, MDN Creates as well as the rest of the card. This is the perfect couples gift card holder.  Sort of a his and hers.

Give Thanks

Hello, Patricia here.  Today is the last day for Thanksgiving-US, and I have a simple one that both adults and children alike can make this card.   The card is in honor to let everyone know to give thanks for what we have and do not have.   Sometimes is hard to do both.
This card consists of a card blank, two mats, a card front, stamps, and ink (markers and an ink pad).  Ribbon is optional.  You can see how to make this card over at my blog, MDN Creates.

A pirate's Birthday for Me

Hello, Patricia here, and today I made for you a Pirate card for your little guy (or girl) who is into pirates.   I feel we do not give pirates much credit sometime.  After all, they do provide our children with a sense of adventure and wonder about new places to explore.  I especially love this card, because I got to use my favorite tool, my cricut machine, but if you do not have one, do not worry.  There are plenty of die cut machines to use, and if you do not have one at home, there are plenty of embellishments for you to use by the major brands out there.  There are plenty of pirates to go around.  This would also make a great Halloween card for a child who is not into the scary monsters.  The figure reminds me of Captain Hook from the Peter Pan storybook by Disney, and the story never gets old, just plotted on You tube.

Happy Autumn

Patricia here, and I am thinking of Autumn.  As summer comes to a close in less than a couple of weeks, I cannot help but to think of fallen leaves, and the thoughts of me and my siblings running and jumping into the leaves (hey, you would surprised of the tom boyish things I can do in a dress, LOL.)  With that in mind, let me point your attention to the card.  As you have read for some time now, I like to keep things simple and light, even when the card looks complicated. With Faith There is Hope

Hello, Patricia here with another card for the "With Faith" theme.  The card is called, With Faith, There is Hope.  I made the card simple, and it is using a technique I saw on a You Tube video a few months ago.  There is, however, a lot of prep work, before putting it together.  I had fun making it.  Sometimes, you can get inspiration from a video, especially on different techniques, but I am glad you stopped by to take a look today.  While you are at it, if you want to see how I made this card, as well as instructions on how to make your own, stop by MDN Creates, and then come back to enter the challenge, which today is the last day for August.  In the meantime, stop by tomorrow to see what Lucy has for you.  With Faith is still the theme.  I will talk to you later.

Hello, Patricia here to bring you another card in the Cheer Up theme week.  Today, I decided to go random with my card.  I am dealing with scraps again, and this turned out OK, but I have something on there that does not quite belong.  For today, I did it on purpose, but there are times when you want to cheer up someone, and this may be the only items you have, and you need to make it work out.  Who knows, maybe this quirky little card may do the trick to cheer a person up.  you will never know.

On the Road-Travel Card

Hello Patricia here to bring you another card from my blog, MDN Creates.   This time the theme is travel, and we are on the road again.   There is a story behind this card and you can read it on my blog, but it is for a friend's mom who will be leaving my home town to move in with her in one of the southern states.   I thought this would be a perfect time for me to make a card.  By now the mom and the card should be safely there. Happy Birthday girl-Monochromatic

Hello, it's Patricia and I am bringing you a monochromatic card in pink.  This card is for a little girl who is crazy for pink.  That would be my niece, Nine'na, and even though she is turning 4 in September, I decided to make this is card in her honor this month.  There are three shades of pink on the card, and I popped up a couple of the cupcakes.  I made it simple, because of my niece. DCWV, Scraps, and a Just Because Card

Hello-

Patricia here, and this is the last day for the Just because card series.  Today, I made a simple card, utilizing my scraps again.   This time, the scraps come from the Performance Stack by DCWV.   I have been using this brand a lot lately, for several reasons:   you can get a lot of projects done from just one stack, especially if you use the 12 x12 stacks.  They are also trendy.  I still love the other brands like Bo Bunny, Basic Grey, and K and Co, but another reason why I like DCWV is durability.  The papers hold up to whatever project you are working on, from cards to mini books to simple scrapbook layouts.   The stacks are always on sale, especially at Joann's  .   Little known fact, DCWV makes the Recollections paper line for Michaels. This paper line is always one sale at Michaels.

Happy Father's Day

Hello, Patricia here, and is it almost June.  The month where school is recessing for the Summer, vacation time and honoring fathers.   Speaking of fathers, I talk about my own over on my blog, MDN Creates, and I have all the materials listed to make the card you see above.   It looks complicated, but it is about a beginner second level, and requires a little paper piecing and a fragment piece from Tim Holtz.  It is very masculine, and you can use you scraps on this card.  I have never used fragments on my cards and this is my first time buying Washi Tape.  If you never heard of Washi Tape, it is made out of tissue paper.   I hope you enjoy it.

Mom Card

Hello, Patricia Logan here with a very simple card.   I start the week with a simple mother's day card.   I feel lucky to have my mom with me, and she recently celebrated a birthday in March.  She usually does not want anyone to make a fuss over her, but for her birthday, she got gifts that included an Ipad, a car, and a cruise.  (note to self: need a man that does that for me, LOL)

Baby shower invite

Hello and welcome to another Card a Day card.  I am Patricia L., and you can find the recipe for this card on my blog, MDN Creates.

I made this card almost 2 years ago.  I made an invitation card last month, but, I wanted to show you that an invitation does not have be a one sheet card.   since this week is baby week, this card is perfect.    You can read what inspired me to show this card again (I did a post on it two years ago.)   It is a simple card, and once you cut out the baby, then putting this card together should be easy and quick.

A golden invite

My parents celebrated their golden anniversary last year.  Now as eldest daughter and the only one who makes scrapbooks, crafts, and stationary, it was my duty to make the perfect invite.   (I have a brother and a sister).  For my original, I asked my parents what were their favorite colors AS A COUPLE, lol.   I am laughing, because my father is not into that sort of thing (most men are not), and would have preferred to just put the invite on printer paper and send it to everyone.  Mommy was indecisive, and we spent 30 minutes in Archivers on color alone.

Anyway, when I almost forgot it was my turn to present this to you today, I wanted to show you the original, but it had a minor problem; my personal information, so I went back into MS. Publisher, and changed it.   It actually turned out better than the original and I am  please with the results.   You can view it on my blog, MDN Creates.   I had fun recreating this invite.   My tip  for you is, if you are stuck on making a quick card or invite, and cannot see what we have crated here on the Card a Day Blog, try recreating an old card you made.   Use different colors and different sayings.  You will be surprised at what you can come up with.  Thank you for looking and the instructions on how to make it will be on my blog.

Four more sleeps until we are back to our regular posting! Its hard to believe that Christmas has past, and the New Year is fast upon us!
