A German Christmas

German and Austrian Christmas customs have spread throughout the world wherever Christmas (Weihnachten) is celebrated. From the Christmas tree (Tannenbaum) to "Silent Night" ("Stille Nacht") and on to the Advent calendar (Adventskalender), people around the globe have adopted many traditions that began in the German-speaking world.
Hi and welcome to Card A Day Blog, I'm designer today and the week's theme is Christmas Around the World. With doing my own genealogy, I found that on my Dad's side I am quite German descent, and I have a cousin that lives in Germany and want to send him a card around that theme.

To find out more on how the cards were made you'll need to stop by my blog at Tina's Scrap Corner

A Scandinavian Christmas Card

Scandinavian Folk Art is Bold colors, simple designs, repetitive patterns, flourishes, symmetry, flowers, birds. This card was made from that basis.

Hi, I'm Tina from Tina's Scrap Corner your designer today. I chose Scandinavian theme for my card cause the designs are so beautiful. It reminds of some of the Dutch art that you'll find in Pennsylvania. This card shows that style of design. To find out more about this card stop by my blog.

Christmas Around the World - Alaska

Today my card is from an Alaska tradition where the children carry brightly colored stars on sticks from house to house singing Christmas carols.

Hi, it's I, Shirley Ross from Mom 'n Me Scrap, missing my little grands, who live in Alaska right now.

I created a card that my grandchildren could create with me, based on the above Alaskan tradition.

I hope you enjoy my simple little card and continue to enjoy the Christmas Around the World theme by coming back to see what Tina has in store for us tomorrow.

Please share your Christmas creation with us.

Christmas Around the World Costa Rica

Hi, it is me, Shirley Ross from Mom 'n Me Scrap, here with another Around the World Christmas creation.

Today I am taking you to Costa Rica and you may ask, why snow. In my research, I read that floats in the Festival de la Luz are decorated in fluffy white o emulate snow. This is because of the fascination with snow as Costa Rica it does not snow there.

Costa Rica, as Italy, ends there Navidad celebration on January 6th.

I have enjoyed learning about Christmas around the World and look forward to sharing with you again this week.

I used a graduating stamping technique to create the snowy black sections of this card. If you wish to learn more, please join me at Mom 'n Me Scrap.

Now to wait to see what Lucy has in store for us tomorrow.

Buon Natale - Merry Christmas

This week we start the theme of Christmas around the World. Buon Natale or Merry Christmas in Italian from Shirley Ross of Mom 'n Me Scrap.

It was interesting researching Christmas around the World and my favorite country, Italy, had such a pretty greeting.

There are so many different was to celebrate Christmas in Italy. Celebrations start as early as 8 days before Christmas running through January 6th. The one thing that caught my eye was the many photos of beautifully lit Christmas trees and thus my card is a traditional red, white, and green (colors of Italy's flag) and adorned with a Christmas tree.

Hop on over to my blog, Mom 'n Me Scrap, to see more of my card and don't forget to share your great Christmas creation.

Now to see what Shelley has in store for us tomorrow.

Feliz Navidad

I hope you've been enjoying this week of CADB Christmas Around the World offerings.  So sad to say that today brings you to your final stop on the tour, but it will be fun for you.

I come from both Polish and Mexican/Spanish ancestry, and so I wanted to bring you something that represents one of those.  I chose the Mexican/Spanish because I had already decided on the stamp I wanted to use for my card, and it was perfect for the custom I wanted to tell you about.  Please go to Creative Genie-ous where you can read all about the custom and the creative process used in building my card.

Thanks so much for visiting today.  Tomorrow begins a new week and a new theme.  I hope you'll join Tina Campbell as she begins our Christmas Shopping adventures!

Silent Night

I mulled quite a bit about what to make, and ended up making a “reason for the season” card, that I hope you  like!
I have a few people on my list who like traditional cards. Whenever I think of Christmas, I think of the nativity, the calm peace you feel on a chilly winter night, and my favorite Christmas carol "Silent Night". I tried to make a card that was traditional, and made me think of those things too. Enjoy!

For all the details on how I made this card, hop on over to my blog at Gardens Crafts 'n More!

Christmas All Around This One World

Hi! I am Laury Vaden. I design under the name Just Laury at  www.paperthreads.com. I am such a nervous Nelly. I have agonized over what I should do for my first post. So much so that I created not 1 card but 6.... But an interesting technique came out of it all which I describe on my blog. The other cards are also posted there.

My goal for this post was to use materials that are easily available at a local craft store: Cuttlebug Embossing folder, Martha Stewart clear stamp collection, Distress Inks, Momento Ink, Liner pen, Nesties, Markers, and white gel pen. The only supply that is a little different is Gilders Paste (Inca Gold) that was used to ink the edges and some of the raised sections of the embossing folder. Also I used some thick gold thread to tie up the card front.

My daughter's favorite was the above card. This one also uses the same stamping technique as the first card. I also used one of my new stencil designs. A pallet knife was used to spread Golden's Molding Paste in the stencil. The raised area was then gilded using Inca Gold Gilder's Paste. The molding paste looks a lot like embossing but can be used with any stencil.

So which card do you like best? Just curious.

I sure hope you have been inspired today and all week long! Be sure to stop in tomorrow to see what exciting inspirations Shelley Bordeleau has for you.

O Tannenbaum

Hi everyone!  Vicki Schram here kicking off this week's theme...Christmas Around the World!

I'm honoring my German ancestry with today's "O Tannenbaum" card.  Did you know that the Christmas Tree, or Tannenbaum, originated in Germany in the 16th century and gradually spread to most of Europe and North America by the early 19th century?  And now, it's one of our favorite symbols of the season!

Come visit me at PAPER SQUIRREL to view more photos and get all the details and supply list for this card.

Thanks for visiting Card A Day Blog today!  Be sure to check back tomorrow to see what inspiration designer Laury Vaden has in store for Christmas Around the World.
