Now I had to give you a sample using this week's theme right? How about a 3 dimensional? Isn't this adorable? He could be filled with so many sweet treats for Halloween. Candy Corn maybe? What a cute teachers gift.

Trick or Treat

Hello everyone,

The theme this week is Cats and Bats, and since everybody else has been posting about bats, I decided to make a card with a lovely, scary cat.

I have been taking an online class given by Jennifer McGuire named Inspiration Showcase so I decided to use one of the techniques she has been focusing on, which is resist stamping.

If you look in the upper left corner of the card, you can see the word Boo. I did this by using Versamark ink to stamp on to my card base. I then used my Inkssentials foam applicators and Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Shabby Shutters and Dusty Concord) to blend in from the top left and bottom right corners of the card.

I cut the cat shape with my Silhouette after purchasing the shape in the Silhouette store.

I used a Basic Grey rub on to add the words "trick or treat" to the card.

The card base is cut from one of the papers from the Authentique Glowing collection.
I hope you enjoy this card. Please post your own card in our Challenges section and come back tomorrow for more great ideas!!!

Giving Thanks

Thanks for coming to get some card inspiration! This week’s theme is Giving Thanks.  It is an appropriate theme, with Thanksgiving right around the corner for us Canadians, but also because there is so much to be thankful for.  One of my favorite things is to be able to make a special card to give thanks with, that and being able to use different techniques to make them with.  On this card I microwave dried some flowers from my garden to put on the card! For all the information on the card, visit my blog at Garden's Crafts 'n' More.

Make sure to come back for some more inspiration with a card from Christine!

Thank You for Your Friendship

Last year I took a series of card-making classes with Jennifer McGuire at our local scrapbooking store.

There were three classes in total and we made eight cards in each class. The pace was fast and furious. In fact, we had to bring the cards home and finish most of them after the classes because there simply was not enough time to learn all the techniques and finish the cards. Of course, needless to say, I have not finished them yet. This blog will make me finish those cards and this is one of the cards I did not finish in class.

The name of the class was Creativity Kickstart.

This is a 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" square card. The card base is from Hero Arts and we used a Hero Arts text background stamp with light brown ink. Jennifer supplied the resist stamped image on the piece of sticky back canvas, some buttons and hemp.  I used a stamp from my stash for the sentiment.

Jennifer also supplied a standard A2 brown envelope because Square envelopes can be more expensive to mail.

I hope you enjoy this card.  Please visit my blog at http://scrappercreations.blogspot.com for more project ideas.

Happy Birthday!

This is one of the cards I made to have on hand in case I need a birthday card. I saw something similar in a crafting magazine and thought the strips of patterned paper would be a fun look.

I wanted to add a bit of dimension to the elements so I attached some of the stickers from the collection to cardboard I had on hand and cut around the shapes. I used an emery board to smooth out the jagged edges.

I used glue dots to attach the baker's twine to the balloon.

Above is another sticker on cardboard. I used dimensional stickers to attach it to the card. At first, I just attached it straight to the card, but it was a bit lost with all the stripes and patterns around. One of my scrappin' sistas suggested placing a bit of the red polka dot paper behind it to make it pop more. What a great idea Charlene!!

Ingredients:

Pattern paper: Happy Day collection by Simple Stories
Card stock: Very Vanilla by Stampin' Up
Other elements were from my stash

Give A Hoot!

The theme this week is Owls. They can be beautiful, majestic, spooky, or silly. Let’s find our “Inner Owl” and be inspired by these feathered friends to create something we can all hoot about. Okay, enough with this fowl language. Today's designer, Kelly George, has made a card using a sketch from Becky Fleck at Pagemaps.

Complete details on how to make this card can be found on Kelly’s blog, Sassy Scrapper Studio.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to come back tomorrow and see another one of our fine designers at work.

I hope you're feeling OWL better

I used my Cricut to create this card. The owl was cut from the Just Because Cards cartridge and the branch he is sitting on was cut from the Create a Critter cartridge.
I love using my Cricut when I need to come up with something quickly, as was the case for this card because I forgot that we had changed themes from Celebrations to Owls. I had made a card and prepared a post with a birthday card, which I will still post because they are always useful, but then I had to come up with a card that worked for the Owl theme in a hurry.

I added some googly eyes and glossy accent to the owl's beak and feet, wrote up a sentiment on some labels cut with Spellbinders dies and my Cuttlebug, cut a border with a Fiskars border punch and nobody would have been any the wiser, except maybe for the owl (ha ha).

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the card. Be sure to come back tomorrow to see what another designer comes up with.

Birthday Cards

Now that I am a cardmaker, I find that there is nothing worse than having to quickly make a card just before going out to see someone on their birthday. That's why I like to have lots of birthday cards on hand, ready to give to someone.

Since our theme is still Celebrations, I decided to make another birthday card that I can keep on hand for just the right person.

Full details on how I made this card and the list of items I used are on my ScrapperCreations blog.

Be sure to join in the fun and participate in our challenge.

Come back tomorrow and every day to see more cards!!
