Hello everyone. Today I going to share with you my Welcome Baby card. Its a 3d card on the inside. I saw a 3d valentine cardon Martha Stewart's web page in Feburary. This is my version of her 3d card. Tea Time Baby Shower

Hi.. It's me again. Chris Durnan. Our theme is Baby. Recently a friend asked me for this card to have a Baby Shower that was a Tea Time. The Mom to be ... who was feeling very worn out in her big baggy clothes went shopping for something nice to wear with her Mom ... and then they had a nice lunch and tea time with her best friends. She felt very pampered and rested for a day. How fun to spend the day with close friends and family and have "Tea". So this card is not a typical baby card, but every time I look at it I think about how nice it can be to spend time with our loved ones and relax for even just a few moments. The power of bonding.

I made this card almost 2 years ago. I made an invitation card last month, but, I wanted to show you that an invitation does not have be a one sheet card. since this week is baby week, this card is perfect. You can read what inspired me to show this card again (I did a post on it two years ago.) It is a simple card, and once you cut out the baby, then putting this card together should be easy and quick.

Wedding Invite Idea

Die cut machine to the rescue!!

Yes, I have had several opportunities for making wedding invitations for friends and family! It's funny, I never thought I would cut something, and design something that important (and boy did I have everyone proof read everything to make sure!)

I have made 5 wedding invitations for family and friends over the last couple years! Here is one I did a couple years ago, for a friends daughter.

They were under a really tight budget, so we bought the paper in bulk, and used my cutting machine (KNK Maxx) and away we went!

The card is made from a turquoise card base, with the black piece cut so there was a square window and rose cut out. This was glued to the top of the turquoise base. Then, the printed square of their names was glued evenly inside the cut out square! (3 pieces total making up the outside of the card!) For the glue, we used a combination of ATG gun for the straight edges of the cad, and scotch quick glue, and just dabbed a couple in place on the thin part of the rose cut out, then placed on the base. The printed square was put through a Xyron 9" runner, then trimmed and stuck into place.

The inside base of the card was printed, trimmed and placed on the inside of the card. Super easy to do and using my ATG gun, took next to no time to place them all!

In order to get the information on the hotels, RSVP and bridal registry, we did a small "bookmark" type insert. We used the same rose cut out, and turned it into a printed rose, then cut one piece of book mark, and glued hotel info on one side of it, and then the RSVP and bridal registry went onto the second side!

It's so easy to use your electronic die cutters to get these things made! We made 175 wedding invitations for this wedding, it took about 7 hours all together (3 of us working on it) to cut and assemble them all. And the total cost for the invitations was $108!! That included the envelopes and paper (and the paper had a nice texture on it too, making it more elegant!) We simplified the pattern as much as possible, where it still looked fancy, but was cut in just a few pieces for easy assembly!

Wedding invitations are fun IF you plan WAY ahead of time. 6 months is not too long! If you are thinking of purchasing a digital die cutting machine, then give yourself time to research machines and time to learn how to use it when it arrives. (add 6 more months!)

I did my daughters wedding invitations in 2009 and was very glad that I had given myself time. Looking back, I see a lot I would have changed but... I am still happy with the outcome and my daughter was too. You can find them here.

This invitation is a new. I have tried to design it for simple assemble and minimum paper usage.

It is so hard to believe we are over halfway through Feb!

I had planned on doing a new card for this week, but life got in the way unexpectedly! I ended up with my nieces here this week to stay....and let me tell you, i'm feeling my age!

They are awesome to have, but I'm definitely out of shape in the parenting of babies and toddlers! A 2.5 year old and 9 month old are whipping my backside!

Though it has been extremely fun!

Anyway...here is a card I did a couple years ago, using one of those Lace pattern brass templates. I don't even know if they sell them exactly like that any more! But what I did do is take some Rub-Onz and create the sentiment on there, as I had left it blank!

Not my best work, but when in a jam, it's always nice to have some standard card fronts available for just such an emergency!

Hello Everyone
This Is Terri from Ramblings of A Texas Craft Room. Today its my turn to bring you a St Pattys Day card. This is the first St Pattys day card I have ever made. Oh, to be Irish on St Patty Day! What fun they seem to have.
Im always on the look out for interesting paper napkins to use in my cardmaking. When I saw a package of napkins that had red lips all over it. I bought them even though I wasnt sure how I would use them. Once I got them home and started thinking about it. I knew St Pattys Day was the prefect time to use the napkins. I also have a very small stamp that was of some puckered lips. With a little green ink a cute card was born.

Supplies Used:
Paper: Graphic 45 Pattern Paper - cut 1/8" smaller than the card blank front 4 1/4" x 5 1/4
Card Blank-Kraft Color, Black
1- 8 1/2 x11 piece of kraft cardstock cut horizontally to make two card blanks
1 6x6 piece of black and 1 6x6 piece of kraft cardstock to cut with the Cricut Machine.
Ribbon: Lace and Black 1/8 inch cut to the length of the pattern paper mat.
Ink : sepia tone color
Cricut Cartridge: Pagoda
Computer printed Thank you (used the software MS Word)
Pearl for center

Fold your cardstock in half, and lay to the side. Take the lace and ink it up lightly to mimic an antique look. set to the side. Optional: You can also ink up the edges of either the card blank or the mat with the same ink to give it an older look. I did not do it on this card, because I was in a hurry that day. Cut out the flower with the machine and cartridge as directed ( I cut it at 3". I used shadow and Layer 1). Note: If you do not have a cricut machine, or the cartridge, you can substitute the flower with the type of machine you are using- electronic or non-electronic, as well as the cartridge you have. This is an very flexible card. Finally, I printed and matted the "thank you" phrase and placed the pearl in the center of the card.

Head to any school yard, before or after school, and you'll see the same common site...kids with headphones in their ears and their MP3 players jamming! Sometimes I think they have it so loud that you can hear their music from a mile away!

I thought this stamp from Greeting Farm would make a GREAT card for every day things for that teen near you. You can use it for Birthdays, Special days, Thinking of you, or more!

I think this is my favorite color combination for brown hair! You can't see it, but i also use a clear spica pen on her eye lids, so she is wearing "glittery eye makeup"....very trendy!

Sweet 16 Party Invitation

Hello Everyone!!

It's me Terri, from Ramblings of a Texas Craft Room. I have an invitation card for you today. It is a Sweet 16 party invitation. What fun this would be to surprise a sweetheart with a party and a new car on her 16th birthday. I didn't have fun parents when I was 16. They believed I needed to be responsible and earn my first car !! And so I did. However today I drive a red VW beetle with black 6 inch dots all over her. She is my very own Ladybug.

I hope this invitation card gives you a great idea for your next party. Maybe it will bring back great memories of your first car too.

My submission to the blog hop has to be a masculine themed card, and since this week's theme is "invitations" I wanted to incorporate both into today's post!

The first thing, of course, was I got out my copics, and had a grand time coloring my stamped image! I then used flock for the eye patch, smooch for the earring, buttons, buckle, edge of treasure chest. I used Rock Candy distress crackle for the skull and treasure chest. I then had some metal charms, which I used my copics and copper mixative by tim holtz, to distress the metal charm. I then sanded it down a little, so it looked like an old treasure charm found in the treasure chest, and that someone rubbed on it, to reveal the "words." I used some Grafix Rub On sheets to create the "You're Invited" and rubbed that onto the metal charm. A Birthday Invite

A golden invite

My parents celebrated their golden anniversary last year. Now as eldest daughter and the only one who makes scrapbooks, crafts, and stationary, it was my duty to make the perfect invite. (I have a brother and a sister). For my original, I asked my parents what were their favorite colors AS A COUPLE, lol. I am laughing, because my father is not into that sort of thing (most men are not), and would have preferred to just put the invite on printer paper and send it to everyone. Mommy was indecisive, and we spent 30 minutes in Archivers on color alone.

Anyway, when I almost forgot it was my turn to present this to you today, I wanted to show you the original, but it had a minor problem; my personal information, so I went back into MS. Publisher, and changed it. It actually turned out better than the original and I am please with the results. You can view it on my blog, MDN Creates. I had fun recreating this invite. My tip for you is, if you are stuck on making a quick card or invite, and cannot see what we have crated here on the Card a Day Blog, try recreating an old card you made. Use different colors and different sayings. You will be surprised at what you can come up with. Thank you for looking and the instructions on how to make it will be on my blog.

Hi! Shelley Bordeleau here! I was having fun making a winter hued birthday card – with lots of pearl mist and greens and blues.The only vibrant color is in the Happy Birthday banner on the bottom edge of the card front.

Size of card (folded) 3 1/2 inches by 5 inches
Background : Cuttlebug Tiny Mosaic Embossing Folder, generously sprayed with pearl mists.
Embellishments: Paper snowflake salvaged from my Christmas tree. Iridescent star confetti.
Banner: Teal cardstock 1 inch by 5 inches (bottom layer). Hallmark giftwrap wrapped around another piece of cardstock to strengthen it, adhered to the bottom layer with dimensional tape. Fine line glue used to write Happy Birthday, and green glitter applied to it.
Inside, blank page for writing a personal note.

Today is a very simple but sweet Get Well Card. If you grew up the way I did, then you really get this card. My dad was a Jack of all trades and a master of none of them. He fixed everything with duct tape or Duck tape as we called it when we were kids. LOL. It makes me smile even today.

Hi There! It's Jan from Sam & Hailey Designs, and I have a question for you:

What do you do when you need a last minute card? Turn to your stash!

I consider myself an expert on "last minute." It seems like everything I do these days is last minute. Maybe what I really am an expert in is procrastination!

Here's what I created for today's Thank You Card post here on Card-A-Day:

The card base is from a set of flip-flop cards in my stash. It only took me a few minutes to cut and put together the original card back when it went in my stash. Then it only took a few minutes to dress it up, ready for giving!

Welcome to a great new beginning of the new year! Hopefully it's all going well with you so far!

Each year, I have the good intentions of sending out thank you cards for various events, such as going to dinner once a month in a dinner group we are a part of, or to someone who may have done something different or special for me in the month! So I try to have a pile of thank you cards in my stash!

Here is one such card currently sitting in my stash!

I'm totally in love with this stamp! It's one of my favorites in my collection of stamps, because it's so versatile, can be used for thank yous, thinking of yous, friendship, and so much more! The stamp is from CC Designs, and is an Itzie Inkie: Flower Power! I colored the stamp in with my copic markers, and then I used the out of bounds technique that I made a video on how to do, and can be found here:

I also used a stamp by Stampin' Up for the Thank you, and I used scrap papers and ribbon for the rest of the card. For the punched border, I created that "border" design in my cutting program and cut from my KNK Maxx.

Hello everyone!! My name is Terri and this is my very first post for CADB. I am so happy to be a designer and hang out with your guys on this blog. Thank you so much for the opportunity to show you my Vintage Valentine Card.

I've made a video showing you how easy this cute little Valentine is to make. I used a cutout from a Dover Image Book. The book I used dates back to 1994. I know that Dover still publishes these books. If you don't have one or cant locate the Dover books. You could easily use a Cricut cut, any die cut, a stamped image or a digital image. This card is a nice simple 3D card.

When I saw Jan Bryson’s photo, I smiled. I have some favorite ornaments that I take pictures of every year!

Here is the story behind the picture of her ornament!

My parents have a tradition that we have carried over to our marriage. Their first Christmas together as a married couple they bought (or received as a gift, not sure) a pair of stuffed animal puppies with Christmas hats on. Every year they go under the tree (even today) and keep watch over the presents. I loved those Christmas Puppies when I was a kid. It made me feel so connected to the past. Victor and I also have a pair of Christmas Puppies that go under our tree. I think they were from Hallmark. They have little magnets in their noses that make them kiss. Awwwwwww.... Whenever I see them, I think of my parents and the Christmases of my childhood. In our house, the doggies have to hang out up on the tree with the ornaments. That way they don't get eaten by our actual dog, AKA The Christmas Bandit.

Jan also sent in a wonderful word art inspiration for us! I can see using it as a bookmark, or along the edge of a card! Thanks Jan!!!!

Shelley Bordeleau from Gardens Crafts ‘n’ More is the fourth entry of our Christmas break… Here is a bit about it:

Every Christmas, time seems to go faster and faster! This year, a co-worker volunteered me to help her decorate the staff Christmas tree! I think you’ll like how it turned out. It is simply silver garland that has a Christmas train I printed and cut out with our names on the Santa car, and white snowflakes. At a distance, it looks like a frosty tree! After making it, I can see why some people like doing “themed” colors on their trees at Christmastime… so different from my multicolored one at home! I hope you like the bit of word art I made… it reflects what I feel about the season

Christmas is such a fun time of year, for everyone, including our pets!
When Michelle Hessler of Paperthreads sent in her Christmas Tree picture, I had a chuckle when I opened it up to see the expression on her dog’s face. The phrase just goes so well with the picture! Sometimes I think it’s a good thing that we don’t know what the four legged members of our families are actually thinking!

The note from Michelle that came with the picture:
"I know…it’s not a serious saying or anything….but I had the kids go through the pictures, and this is what they came up with. Our dog pictured here was named Riggs, and this was to be our last Christmas with him. The kids still cherish any pictures of him, and he was always such a poser!"

One of my favorite Christmas decoration is this barbwire Christmas tree. My
hubby and I got it at a charity event for TROT, an organization that helps
many people, disabled and vets, through horses. One of my passions in life
are horses. We had a fantastic evening and I think of it and the charity
and their work whenever I get the tree out of the storage every year. And
for more on the story of why the nativity scene is all a mess. I posted this

Wow what a December it has been and lots of inspiration from all the designers. I'm your designer for the day ant the theme is Christmas thank you card, now myself I would never even considered a thank you card until I joined in with CADB and seen as a theme and thought yea why not. So I get the blessing this year of not hosting my family this Christmas but my Sister-In-Law is so I decided to make this card and then send it to her and my brother after the holiday for hosting this year and maybe start another tradition. This card was relatively quick and easy to make. A good one to make if you need several duplicates of one card. The papers where from the Die Cut With A View 2010 Christmas Combo 180 Stack. The buttons are the Peppermint Buttons, from Oriental Trading Company. I just love these buttons, they are so cute.

Hello again. It's me, Chris Durnan from Visual Designs by Chris. I love posting to the Card A Day Blog. It really gets me motivated to design and cut with my KNKmaxx. My Favorite Santa

We all get so caught up during the weeks leading up to Christmas with shopping and baking and decorating and celebrations and wrapping gifts. And, speaking of gifts, it's so easy to let time get away from us once the holidays are over that we forget, sometimes, to send out those all-important thank you cards and notes to those who have been so generous to us. Today's Project is a Floating Santa! Doesn't he look oh so Cool!

I love the floating Santa because for us down in the desert of Arizona, we don't see alot of Christmas snow. I remember it once when I was younger here in the heat. However, I also remember jumping in the pool that day and swimming as the snow came down. I think it was one of our first holidays here after our move from Wisconsin. I do know about the full wonder of snow and its beauty from my younger years in the snow. But I also am fond of my Christmas sunshine!

Wow I can't believe we are in the month of December already! Now we are in the thick of the holidays what better way to see it than through the eyes of a child. I'm lucky enough to have 14 grandkids and it's a joy to Christmas through their eyes.

Hello, I am Patricia, and I have a quick card for you. It is a winter scene and you can view it on my blog, MDN Creates. This card is off the classic card style of a blank card/mat/stamped scene. I love winter scenes, and as a matter of fact, I love taking pictures of the snow, but hate driving in it. So imagine a big roaring fire in an fireplace, viewing this scene. Sounds cozy doesn't it.

Celebrating a Reason

This week we are focusing of the Celebration of Christmas.

For me that always starts with "The Reason for the Season" and that is Christ, his birth and his sacrifice.

I chose reds and greens to represent the blood and everlasting life. The cross is based on Celtic knot work and reminds me of St. Patrick who preserved the faith! The cross and the holly are detachable and can be used as a paper ornament. The inner message reflects the meaning of Christmas.

But I did have some fun making this cute card to wind down our Christmas Shopping theme for this week. I tried to keep it simple, but you can visit me at Creative Genie-ous to check out the details.

Happy Garden Girl....

Sometimes you have to dig in deep and use up those scraps! lately, I have been promising myself I would not buy new papers until I go through my scrap bins and get those piles down to half their size. let me tell you, that means I could be making cards every day for a full year using my scraps before I allow myself to buy new paper! Yes, my scraps piles are THAT large!

I store my scraps in plastic carts, and separate by color groups and then holiday, specialty (like vellum, flocked paper, mirror paper, etc), pattern, stripes (I use a lot of stripes!) Anyway, we'll see if I can bring the pile of scraps to a more reasonable level!

This stamped image was fun to color....and I found some great scraps in my stash to go with her!

Christmas Joy

Happy Thanksgiving to all our American readers!

So, while I was making my cards a couple years ago, I was using glitter, and I thought, hmmm, wonder if anyone has shown the difference of using glitter on a colored background compared to using it on a plain white background.....

So, that's what I did! I MADE THIS VIDEO (CLICK TO VIEW) of the colored glitter used on a colored stamp, and the same colored glitter used on the same stamped image that has not been colored! It's amazing what a difference you can get in the results!

Basically, you would apply the glitter to your smallest section first (do one color at a time)

Then, pour your glitter onto the project, where it will set in on the sticky parts only! Then, take your glue pen, and color in your next part....and then pour your glitter on, and it will set in that second part...

Tap off your glitter again....and taking your glue pen, fill in the next section with glue....

Sprinkle your glitter over it, and tap it off when you are done!

Continue this until you have covered all of your parts with the glitter.

The picture really doesn't do it justice, up close, the finished product has a really nice "bling" to it!

Here is the finished item on my card! Stamp is from C.C. Designs, Cookie Crumbs: Reason for the Season. I used my Copics to color the stamped image, stamped with my Memento Ink. SEI Patterned paper, Colormates plain paper, and ribbon by SEI. I cut the stamped image out using Nestibilities on my Cuttlebug.
